Week in ND Aug 26 - Sept 3, 2013 ( Part 2 )

While we were at my mothers, it had rained and created a great opportunity for my husband Jeff and nephew Jamie to do some much needed trimming around the house.  

 and trimming of the hedge that had been out of control.   They opened things up so my mother can see the highway and mail box from the picture window.  As they were trimming I heard Jamie tell Jeff,  "I sure wish I would have done this while Grandpa was still alive, he would have loved the view from his chair."

 It was up in the 90's but they were in the shade part of the time which helped make their hard work bearable.  

 It sure looks different with everything trimmed.  I didn't get a photo after everything was hauled away. 

This beauty of a yellow jacket hive was just to the left of where the trees were cut down but they were not very active.  Unlike the yellow jacket's that had a  hive on the back side of Jamies granary.  They attacked him when he closed the hatch and stung him twice.   
The next day he was out there with some mighty powerful bug spray that shoots 20 feet.  YEP,  he got them.

 Jeff helped him out by spraying the hive on the east end of the house. 

 Time for a little fun and relaxation.  My 85 yr old uncle Ed (my mothers younger brother) came over to so a little picking with Jeff.   

 It was fun listening to them pick and sing 
and we even joined in on a few songs.

 We took my mother to the cemetery so we could see my dad's head stone and the VA foot stone that had just been placed.   

 The foot stone turned out nice but I had requested the Missouri Lutheran cross that they offered but for some reason it came with the regular cross.  I guess it will have to do. 

 My mother still has some flowers outside in front of the picture window and many beautiful blooming african violets on the inside of the picture window on a big coffee table.  She has had these for years. There must be a good dozen plants.   Purples, pinks, blue and white.

 We got in on the very beginning of harvest.  It was a very late spring so harvest is also late this year.

 I took these pictures west of the farm at sun set.  Here you can see the beautiful silhouette of the combine and Jamie as he drives and runs this big combine.  Well, at least it sure looks big to me. 

Our youngest daughter enjoyed some guitar, mandolin time with her father.  He taught her a few new techniques on the guitar.  It was fun to listen to them as they played together making beautiful music. 

I was thankful to spend the week with my mother and help her with a few things while I was there.   I am also very thankful to God for letting me enjoy my mother and her love for so many years.  I treasure our time together.  

A week in ND Aug 26th - Sep 3 2013

Thursday , the family got together for a early birthday celebration for my mother.  Early because her granddaughter and family wanted to be a part of the celebration and would be gone on a family vacation over Labor Day weekend.  It was also their anniversary on Sept 1st so was so fun to see them and spend time with them.                                                                                                                                                  
Below,  Nephew Jamie,  Niece Amber and 4 yr old son. He is excited about the new fireman blanket that his Auntie Angel made for him.

You can tell he is also proud to show me his new boots.  They are TOY STORY and they  light up

 They are almost 2 1/2 yr old already and just as cute as can be. 

It was pretty as a picture with a foggy hazy morning sun rise. 

This is the "BEFORE" picture.  My mother and I had hair cut and perm date on Thursday Aug 29th.

This is the  "AFTER" picture whit our hair cut and curled and we were ready for church on Sunday.  This was also the morning of my mom's 92nd birthday.  September 1, 2013

Just have to have a few presents for a special 92nd Birthday celebration.

and then she blew out all her candles.  

Look at that big smile on my Nephews face,    Angel and husband Dave must have not caught the joke.

It was a wonderful visit to ND and especially to celebrate my mothers 92nd Birthday.   Watch for part 2  blog of   "A WEEK IN ND"

Bell Park Festival (Rochford Cemetery) 8/24/13

On the way, what a beautiful drive in the Blsck Hills.

Very unique grave markers.  This cemetery in the Hills,  has lots for sale , $100 per 20' x 20' lot.  I would guess that a few of the fenced areas are one lot and big enough for 6.

The Festival featured many individual original Obituaries from the person buried in that spot and sometimes extra information about the person, family or death.   

There was food, raffles, ice cream, and about 5 different music groups.  

Here they had ask for volunteers and when we got up to the stage, (a trailer bed)  we each got a better quality plastic harmonica and were ask to add to the music selection.  It was fun.  I have the light tan shorts on and my husband Jeff,  who actually knows how to play harmonica, has the white shirt and navy blue cap.  

 

Beautiful scenery and sounds, created by our Loving heavenly Father for all of us to enjoy.  

Gen 1:31 to Gen 2: 3  God saw all that He had made, and it was very good.  And there was evening, and there was morning ----the sixth day.  Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array.  By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.  And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.
