Trip to Pierre

Our trip to Pierre. We found a great spot in the State camp ground. Our old "grizmobile" worked great and it looks kind of nice nestled in the trees at this camp spot close to the river. It has everything we need, just on a way smaller scale.

Day one. Imagine the sound of croaking frogs, an occasional goose or duck call, birds in the trees, the smell of camp fires and plum blossoms, a 70 degree, quiet peaceful day and evening to relax and fish. So what if we only caught one 16" Walleye, it was fun and it will be a perfect supper for me and my husband tomorrow evening.

The picture of the Missouri river was taken from the edge of a housing area in Pierre. What a beautiful view.
My husband had a Lay Leadership church meeting to attend on day two and I did some driving around scouting out garage sales and took my dog for a nice walk next to the river.
This neat bit of history was found close to where we went fishing on day two, the afternoon. This is about the Old Deadwood trail and how the steam ships would come to this point and unload so the oxen drawn wagons could take the goods 200 miles to Deadwood. It took them 30 days. (HOW TIMES HAVE CHANGED)

This was a hard area to fish with all the big rocks, this seemed to be the best spot to catch fish. We counted over 40 boats in the area. I do think they had a fish tournament but still, they sure were hovering at this area. We didn't take our boat this time.

Here you can see some of the many boats, the rocky shore line and the old beautiful railroad bridge.

It was a little cool , rainy and windy on day two and day three. We did enjoy our time. This morning, we did attend church and bible class at Faith EV. Lutheran Church. It is a gorgeous church that teaches the true word of God. If you are ever in the area, check it out.
The only fish I caught was caught this afternoon and in this area. Yep, from the rocks.
Our 38th Anniversary was on Friday so this was a neat way to celebrate.
