Summer Fun

We enjoyed a lot of fun with our family for several days before our WV trip and a week after the trip. Here are some fun pictures to show you what we did!

What fun we had while spending time with our children and grandchildren.
Above, our two lovely daughters with out 5 precious grandchildren enjoying the coolness and fun at a local pool.

Oh yes, I was a part of the fun too and my youngest daughter snapped this picture.

HEY, WHO TURNED ON THE WATTER SPRINKLER? ? ?

I'll show you how to get wet! It sure was fun watching the sprinkler antics.

WOW! A fashion show with look alike dresses . Even the dog got in the show!

We had just finished seeing who could make the funniest face, Guess one was still practicing. Here they were excited to open gifts from one of our friends, my cousin.
Baking wonderful cookies for the county fair. Yum! Believe me, they were very good.

LET ME ENTERTAIN YOU! I will sing and tell jokes.

Looks like someone thinks the jokes are funny! LOL!
What a fun unique pass time. Whittling a Buffalo. Grandfather with grandson!
We just had to help prepare these green beans for supper. Head and Tailing!

It just looked like too much fun, the 3 yr old had to get involved too!
What a special day when we all attended the baptism of a very close friend.
Here our 5 grandchildren pose with the sweet baptism girl and her mother.
We all enjoyed a meal out. What a fun treat!
We all had to take our turn holding the guest of honor. What a blessing it is to be adopted into Gods family through the water and the Word, Holy Baptism.

More delicious cookies for the county fair. Look at the shiny pink sprinkles on the lavender spritz cookies. The Judge said they had very good flavor! I agree!
Yea, a girl hat tea party . I loved the fancy pitcher and glasses.

Hey, your not a girl! Well at least he is wearing a hat!

We used sidewalk chalk to draw roads, stop signs, and buildings. Can you find the church? We called it T-Caw County
We all took turns helping this 6 yr old learn to ride her bike. Looks like this was mom's turn. Yes, she learnt how! Good Job! Riding bike will come in handy since she has already won 2 shiny new bikes.

OOPS! Who said home schooling is fun?
The grandchildren found big seed pods on a tree and decided to paint them to make swards. NOW THAT'S FUN!

Microwave pop corn made in the camper. It just has to taste better if it is made in the camper, right?
Guess what the kids found in the camper van?
A couple box's left over 4th of July sparklers.
It was a good thing to use them up. FUN TOO!

We got to have a picnic on the porch. The grandchildren thought sitting on a blanket in the front yard was very fun.

Watching a bug as mom turns this into a homeschooling experience.
The two dog's always asking for treats! DID SOMEONE SAY TREAT?
JUST A SWING EN! I guess I see a little Popsicle eaten too!
We enjoyed going to a local park to watch the Melodrama. Here are the girls with the lead actress after the show named Dismal Flats. It was fun, with all the pooing, hissing and throwing of pop corn!
Time to say good bye! We will have lots more fun next visit!

"Grizmobile" Vacation trip

Here it is, our famous Grizmobile van camper. We took this on a very long vacation. We distributed our Government rebate check all across the country. From west to south east and back again. First stop was at our oldest daughter and family.

After a five day visit, we left for WV.
We drove through big city's!

Over big rivers such as Mississippi, Missouri and Ohio rivers.

Through curvy mountain roads. Our little camper, the Grizmobile was our home away from home. We camped in it and ate all our meals in it.
Hey, we just had to make this stop for a Biscuit sandwich. We had never seen a Biscuit World before. It was very good too!
We traveled past coal mines!
We had to stop at this pile of coal to pick up a few samples, SOUVENIRS!
Here we are driving up the Hollow in Mayburry where my husband used to live when he was a child.

Now we are coming out of the Hollow. Their house used to set on the steep hillside just to the left, it burnt down several years ago and you can see how the vines and bushes have just taken over.

We traveled over big fancy bridges! and over very small old one lane bridges.

You can see this bridge is in need of repair! I wanted my husband to stop the van on this bridge for a photo but he felt it might not be the smartest thing to do!

Here we are at his sisters home. Our van stands out next to all his families cute shinny newer vehicles! Below it stands out at the park where we had a fun family picnic.

On the way home we st oped at a town named Santa Claus. Also a town called Dale which is my brothers name. I didn't get a picture of that one though!

More hills, curves and mountain roads.

Toll roads! Not bad, only $3.75 total toll!

we st oped at fun interesting sights and parks. Here we are having a noon picnic.

We camped in beautiful hard wood forests and state parks.

But as we traveled back to our daughters , our fun Grizmobile camper started having a few problems. The last 100 miles were slow due to a power loss but we limped it to our daughters drive way.

Despite my husbands mechanical skills and the help from our Son-in-law, The Grizmobile would not start. We had to call a garage and tow truck. We were happy this happened when we were with our family and could spent the extra week enjoying the company of our children and 4 grand children.

Here it is ready for the trip to the Garage for repair.

Bye Bye Grizmobile!

We got the van back Wednesday at noon. One last picture with our Grandchildren before heading home. We drove all the way not wanting to take a chance on another break down.

A beautiful sun set greeted us to our home state of South Dakota. The scenery is a lot different then the high mountains we had driven through! We are thankful to God for his guidence, protection and care during our long 3000 mile trip! God has spread His beauty though all the world. What a wonderful Creator we have! Praise Ye The LORD! Alleluia!
