Granddaughter Confirmation

April 26th was a very special day when My husband and I got to witness our middle granddaughter confirm her faith in the true God the Father,  God the Son, God the Holy Spirit.  She along with her family and siblings have been studying and memorizing Luther's Small Catechism ( http://catechism.cph.org/about.html ) for most of her life.   The Catechism is based on the Bible and teaches what we as Lutheran Missouri Synod believe.
Our granddaughter looked absolutely beautiful.
We pray that she will always remain strong in the Faith and God's saving Grace.

I started this blog with pictures from her special day of Confirmation.  Now I will back up a bit to include some very fun, memorable moments
from our visit with her and our family.

We enjoyed several walks with the two youngest grandchildren.  The weather was perfect and the mosquitoes and gnats had not yet made their presence.   They enjoyed time on their bike as we tagged behind.  Their small town has a beautiful walking trail with tall trees and good walking conditions.
Where Papa is,  she is not far away.

A parked bike means only one thing,  there is more interesting things to be explored in the trees where a bike will not go.  Below, our granddaughter try's her balance skill as she takes a off trail path down through the trees.  She did very well.

Quite the little model posing in many ways saying, " Nana, Nana, take a picture of me now."  I love looking at all the sweet poses and that sweet smile of hers.
Many beautiful blooming wild flowers along the walk trail.

She loves both her grandfathers a lot and enjoyed the hike through the forest trees with Papa Jeff and was absolutely thrilled when her Papa Brian arrived.

Since we had been to Hawaii, we brought a few souvenirs from the O'ahu. The boys didn't get near as excited about their t-shirt souvenir as the girls got about their sarong.  They had a ball trying different ways of  wearing them.

A few laughs later, it was decided to use them in summer as swim suit cover-ups.

You will see plenty of the pink dress souvenir as she decided to wear it for the confirmation reception and for Sunday Confirmation.  I enjoyed having my picture taken with her as I have a matching tank top.  I must admit,  it is very comfortable cool fabric.

Another one of those " Nana, Nana, take a picture of me running."       and so I DID!

And yet another of her little model poses as we were looking at her moms beautiful spring flowers.

Such a big gorgeous Bleeding Heart plant and it was blooming so nice.

The Tulips couldnt have picked a better time to be full bloom. They were beautiful.

Just one more picture with our matching Hawaiian cloths.

Mom spent much time baking and decorating this from scratch Delicious cake.    She always does a great job at creating her masterpiece cakes.  Both our daughters have that special talent.

While mom worked at the cake,  we did our nails.  I got to do the confirmation girl's nails but she got to choose the color and the special accents.  I think they turned out lovely but the cake turned out even better.  We had to wait until the reception to taste that scrumptious work of art.

Mom and Dad let her open her Confirmation gift from them before the reception     She was all dressed for the event in her new off white lace dress.

She loved her very own coffee cup along with a little silver ring with the Trinity design on it.

Below shows her excitement of receiving her very own ESV Study Bible ,   it even had her name on it and the date.

She quickly had to check out her confirmation verse and a few other favorites.

St. John 1: 1     In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
At the Reception on Saturday afternoon.  The cake and punch table.

The cakes,  you can tell by her smile that she is very happy and proud of this beautifully decorated cake that her mother made with love.   Every single ingredient and frosting swirl with LOVE!

Below is a picture of the bought cake from her mom's employment place.  Nothing Bundt Cakes.   They are delicious, what a great part time job.  http://www.nothingbundtcakes.com/
I bet you can't guess who is trying to sneak a fresh raspberry?

The table decorations.

Family had a good time visiting before the reception started and below,  you can see the scrumptious food selections are all ready,  but wait,  I spot someone at the far end already giving it a taste test.

I hope it was satisfactory.

Mom and Grandma Helen relaxing after lots of
decorating and preparation of the food.
Time for a few memorable photos.  She looks beautiful next to her Papa Brian.  Below is Papa Brian with all three of the girls.

Mom and dad  looking very nice and happy with their big smiles.

You can't have a big confirmation event or reception without getting a photo of the whole family. It is hard for me to believe that there are only two children from the family left to be confirmed.
These three girls are quite the cards.  Actually the two on the right worked very hard decorating and preparing food to make sure this was a very special day for the Confirmand.
Back home after the reception she
opened more gifts from family and friends.

She got this antique heart locket from her Great Grandmother, my 93 yr mom.

She loved this I AM A LUTHERAN necklace with Luther's seal.  You can see she chose to wear it for her Confirmation day.  It was from her Aunt Melissa who is her Baptismal sponsor, her and family couldn't be there.  It looked so nice with her white Confirmation gown.

She got a beautiful ring with a cross on it from her other sponsor who couldnt be there so she also chose to wear that ring on her Confirmation day.
This lovely silver cross bracelet from her Great Aunt Kathy
will always remind her of Jesus love and sacrifice for her.

This is the gift from me and Jeff,  We found this cross while in Hawaii made by a local craft person.  It is made up from different sands from O'ahu and the other Islands.
This will double as a Confirmation gift and also a special souvenir from Hawaii.     It can remind her that as a Christian she is a part of the Whole Christian Church on earth as God had promised Abraham that his family would be as many as the sand.
Mom gets the honor of pinning on the flower
before the Confirmation worship service.

This is the two who Confirmed their faith
along with the Pastor of their church on the right.

Dad and mom pose for a picture with their Confirmed daughter.  What a special day for them.
OK, here it is, there always has to be one natural unposed picture in the bunch.  This is it!  I just laugh every-time I look at this.

Below is the posed family picture with Grandma Helen and Dave.

Jeff and I even got to be in a picture with the whole family.

Below is Jeff and I with our newly Confirmed granddaughter. We count it as a special blessing and privilege to share this special day.

Papa and his

 Photo Bomb!

Below is the very nice Confirmation card from her parents. She   received many cards and gifts, too many to show here but she very much appreciated every single one.

The worship service was on Jesus the Good Shepherd from John 10: 11 - 18.  This picture by the stain glass window will always remind her of that special Confirmation Gospel message.   Jesus lay down His live on His own accord out of love for His Sheep.   We are His Sheep.
Sunday afternoon was the Home School choir concert.  There were three groups with at least 30 in each group.  The music was great, this is the middle age group with our granddaughter singing her heart out.  She has a lovely voice and she loves choir.

This is the oldest high school group.  There is a lot of talent and great voices from this group.  Below you can see close up pictures with our oldest granddaughter  in the center of the girls and our grandson on the far right of the boys.  His voice has matured so much and sounds so rich.  He had a solo part in one of the songs and also earlier this year her participated in an Honor Choir for the elite voices.

Papa making his last day visit productive, fixing a flat tire.

The Lilacs were also in full bloom.
The fragrance filled the whole yard.

I will finish off this blog with a picture of  Rusty the cat.
 Just look at those eyes!
